END OF THE YEAR AT AIR ZERMATT: A LOOK BACK
Its the last day of 2022 and only a few hours remain until the end of the year. While some are reminiscing about what happened last year, others are already looking forward to the new chapter '23. The employees of Air Zermatt have also reviewed the last twelve months and compiled the best events, the biggest challenges and the expectations for the new year.

DAVID FUX | TASK SPECIALIST
"I particularly remember the enormously hot summer. But also the varied assignments, both in the high mountains and in the village itself. We had an excavation period as severe as probably ever before. This time was strict because of the heat, but also very exciting. My personal highlight was my first crane erection in the village - a special event, but one that also challenged me.
I was able to learn a lot this year. For example, how to stay focused in hectic situations. I can always rely on my colleagues, the pilots and the operations management. This trust has been strengthened once again this year.
In the new year, I am particularly looking forward to the summer season - when the days are longer and we are once again flying more over the villages of the Valais. But also to the associated contact with mountain farmers, hut wardens and other clients. 2022 was a brisk year and we all came home healthy every day. That's not something to take for granted, and I hope it stays that way in the coming year."

Sina Furrer | Operations Manager
"My time at Air Zermatt only started in October. My start here was very nice, I arrived well and was warmly welcomed. This made me feel part of the team and comfortable right from the start. There was a lot of new things to learn right away in the operations management, the job is demanding. That's how I felt on my first day at work - all hell broke loose. However, I had a perfectly coordinated backup behind me that I could count on.
I am looking forward to 2023 with full motivation and many beautiful and sunny days on which we can send our helicopters into the air. I myself want to learn more every day, especially because I am still at the beginning. My resolution is to always stay positive. Even challenging experiences can be enriching and everything has its good side!"

HANSPETER WYER | AIRCRAFT TECHNICIAN MECHANICS
"For Air Zermatt, a super and accident-free year with few incidents is coming to an end. We flew an above-average number of flights, which also meant a lot of checks and thus a lot of work for the technical department. Nevertheless, I look back on a well-organized and beautiful year. We are not doing a 0518 job and I still like this one after all these years. I hope for an equally great 2023!"
CARMEN LAUBER | ACCOUNTING RESCUES
"I made an internal job change, which meant that 2022 held some changes for me. I really like my new job in accounting and I am still proud to be part of the Air Zermatt team after 20 years. That has not changed this year. I hope that we can benefit from many great experiences in the new year and wish the whole crew an accident-free year!"
SANDRO IMBODEN | HEAD OF GROUND OPERATION/ NPGO
"2022 was an intense year for Air Zermatt and the workload for all employees was very high. We managed a large number of small and large orders, accomplished a lot of new things and can accordingly conclude a successful year. The biggest challenge is and remains to satisfy all customers and at the same time to make sure that the team around Air Zermatt is doing well. My personal challenge was the change to my new job. This has taught me to be more patient. Important decisions often can't be made overnight and it pays to take your time instead of acting hastily.
If I have to look back on one event in the past year, it is the day we were awarded the contract. This has confirmed all of us in what we are doing. Also in the new year I hope for a good order situation and an accident-free, satisfied year for our team. There's a lot in store for us - I'm personally looking forward to every upcoming challenge and, of course, to our new helicopters!"
ANDREAS FÄSSLER | OPERATIONS MANAGER & TASK SPECIALIST
"I started my job as a flight helper with Air Zermatt in 2022 and had a great start. However, the turnaround came quickly: due to my accident, I was out of action for several months right away in June. Fortunately, I got a temporary job and after the operation I was able to start my job in mission control with confidence. I like it here very much, even though a completely new challenge awaits me with the winter season - administration is new territory for me. However, I'm also really looking forward to accompanying my colleagues out in the field as a flight helper - I'll be allowed back on the field in 2023."

SARA FUX | MARKETING MANAGER
"I think all our efforts paid off last year, resulting in a very positive outcome. Now it's a matter of staying on the ball to continue just as successfully in 2023. For me, September 12 in particular remains a special memory, when we launched Alpha Zulu On Air and we were able to give something back to the people of Upper Valais with this series. This year, I was particularly pleased with the team spirit. Our department has grown together into a team, which has fulfilled a long-held wish for me and allowed us to reach a new level. I value this team spirit very much.
In 2023, I am particularly looking forward to January 12 - that's when Air Zermatt launches a new communication format. With this, we want to revitalize the Air Zermatt community and tell even more stories. And of course, May 13 must also have a place in the agenda. That's when the Swiss Helicopter Day takes place in Raron!"

LUKAS KEIST | PILOT
"The year 2022 was both rigorous and exciting. The busy summer brought new challenges and interesting experiences every day. I wouldn't want to miss any of the experiences. Formative for me in a positive sense was the entry into transport flying with the cable on the helicopter. It was a childhood dream come true. But the introduction to a new operation is also a challenge. Several times the cable didn't want to go the way I wanted it to. That's when you have to fight, but you always make small steps forward.
In 2023, I hope for further, flying progress and look forward to great moments in the air."
MARCO GEROLD | HEAD OF FINANCE
"For me, the past year remains in my memory as a very intensive one, in which a great deal happened in all departments - but in a positive sense throughout! There were many exciting and great collaborations, the team harmonized and we never got bored.
My highlight is the many new patrons of the Rescue Card. Especially after the newsletter, the orders really exploded. The other months also saw more new patrons than in previous years. This shows us that the work of Air Zermatt is appreciated and that the support of the population is great. Now I'm looking forward to the new projects in the coming year, especially in the area of digitalization, and to move forward.
