Air Zermatt instructs aspiring paramedics in air rescue

Organized by the Emergency Schulungszentrum AG Zofingen, prospective paramedics from all over Switzerland met in Saas Fee last weekend to deepen their medical knowledge together. Air Zermatt was also represented to introduce them to the topics of air and mountain rescue as well as medical first aid.

Around 30 prospective paramedics had the opportunity on Saturday morning to improve their knowledge in the field of mountain rescue. The Emergency Schulungszentrum AG Zofingen organizes such an event once a year, usually in a different location. This year it was held in cooperation with the Saas Valley Ambulance Ambulanz Saastal.

Two years ago the training event should have taken place in Saas Valley, but due to the corona situation it was postponed twice. This Saturday, the paramedics in training were first able to complete various posts on first aid measures on the slopes. Among other things, a snow groomer accident and an injury on the ice field were simulated.

Finally, Air Zermatt demonstrated the evacuation of a patient with the longline. Pilot Philipp Mangold and paramedics Tobias Laner and Patrick Wenger explained mountain rescue and instructed on the correct handling of the rescue bag and medical equipment.
