Landing accident with Air Zermatt helicopter
Shortly before eight o'clock this morning, an H125 AS350 B3 Écureuil helicopter belonging to Air Zermatt had an accident.
Air Zermatt had a landing accident on Col Gnifetti in the Monte Rosa massif at an altitude of almost 4,500 metres. The helicopter entered a vortex on its approach to landing and hit the ground hard. The rotor blades touched and the helicopter tilted to the side.
The pilot, the flight assistant and the three workers on board were all uninjured. The flight was a passenger transport with glaciologists.
The incident is the subject of an investigation of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board (STSB).
