An intensive week for Air Zermatt
Because of the nice weather and the schoolholidays in most of the countrys, a multiple of people spend the last week in Zermatt. Due to the well-filled slopes, Air Zermatt was called to 123 missions. Wintersport accidents where the reason for most of the rescues.
The ski resorts in the Upper Valais are bustling with activity. The excellent weather conditions attract numerous winter sports enthusiasts to the slopes. As a result, the crews of Air Zermatt were called out last week mainly to people who had had accidents on the slopes. However, this volume of operations is not unusual at this time of year. Experience has shown that the number of missions reflects leisure activities as well as the sunny weather in the region.
Accordingly, Air Zermatt is prepared for the increased activity during the high season. Last weekend, three rescue crews were on duty at the same time. In most cases, the air rescuers were called to injured winter sports enthusiasts, who were flown to the region's hospitals after receiving first aid in the high mountains. The beautiful weather was also associated with the best flying weather for the pilots, which made the rescues go smoothly.
