Over 55 years of experience distinguish the Air Zermatt rescue service

Fast and professional help for people in emergency situations – particularly in mountainous areas – with equipment and procedures that meet the latest development standards.

Helicopter Rescues

Air Zermatt has set global standards in rescue services with its pioneering achievements, receiving the Heroism Award, the highest honour in international aviation, three times for its daring air rescues. With anaesthesia emergency doctors and experienced paramedics, pilots, mission leaders and technicians, Air Zermatt guarantees a very high standard of quality.

Ambulance Services

Air Zermatt took over the Schaller ambulance service in Zermatt in 1997. Since then, ambulance services in the Inner Nikolaital have been provided by qualified paramedics and transport paramedics with two ambulances. Around 1000 missions are carried out each year in an area extending from Zermatt to the Herbriggen region.

Rescue Crew

With our salaried, qualified paramedics and pool of permanent clinicians, all of them specialists in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine, we are always able to guarantee the best possible emergency medical care for one or more patients.

SAC Rescue Stations

Thanks to our close collaboration with the local Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) rescue stations, we can rescue injured or stranded people from extreme situations around the clock.

Air Zermatt is a partner of the Valais Cantonal Rescue Organisation (KWRO) and is responsible for air rescue services in the Upper Valais as well as ground-based rescue service in the Inner Nikolaital between Herbriggen and Zermatt.
