Air Zermatt has set global standards in rescue services with its pioneering achievements, receiving the Heroism Award, the highest honour in international aviation, three times for its daring air rescues. With anaesthesia emergency doctors and experienced paramedics, pilots, mission leaders and technicians, Air Zermatt guarantees a very high standard of quality.
Air Zermatt took over the Schaller ambulance service in Zermatt in 1997. Since then, ambulance services in the Inner Nikolaital have been provided by qualified paramedics and transport paramedics with two ambulances. Around 900 missions are carried out each year in an area extending from Zermatt to the Herbriggen region.
Air Zermatt is a partner of the Valais Cantonal Rescue Organisation (KWRO) and is responsible for air rescue services in the Upper Valais as well as ground-based rescue service in the Inner Nikolaital between Herbriggen and Zermatt.
