Swiss competence center for mountain and air rescue: Air Zermatt has a wealth of experience in the field of emergency medicine and alpine rescue, which the mountain rescuers pass on to professionals and amateurs through the Air Zermatt Training Center (ATC).

Practising emergency medical services in the mountains can be extremely challenging. High altitude, extreme temperatures, strong winds, unpredictable weather, weight issues, limited resources and no place for mistakes.

We are offering courses on a high level that prepare you for demanding rescues under extreme conditions. After successfully completing our courses, you might achieve the International qualification for Mountain Emergency Medicine for Emergency Physicians or Paramedics, certified by ICAR, ISMM and UIAA.

We are sure our courses will fulfill or even exceed your expectations. The range of services includes basic and advanced training in the fields of preclinical emergency medicine as well as the transfer of knowledge and skills on safety aspects in alpine sports. The internationally recognized courses are designed for doctors, paramedical personnel, mountain rescuers, mountain guides and rescue specialists from police corps and fire brigades.

Ever since Air Zermatt was founded in 1968, the company has made it a priority to share its experience and knowledge – and the innovations that emerge from these – with the world. Its vision is to allow others to draw on its experiences and build on this expertise so as to help as many people as possible who find themselves in an emergency situation in the mountains, on the roads, at home or elsewhere.

In a collaboration with rescue organizations around the world, Air Zermatt has succeeded over the years in developing standards that are now used internationally. After the Air Zermatt Training Center was professionalized in 2014, training programs certified by various bodies (SRC, ICAR, IVR, ASA, etc.) have been added to its range.

The Air Zermatt Training Center mission is to pass the knowledge it has gained from years of experience in the field on to others through hands-on courses and training programs. Course participants benefit from the know-how of the instructors – each an expert in their field – who impart their knowledge and skills from everyday work in an authentic and highly professional manner. The course topics are regularly adapted to the latest findings and supplemented accordingly, the form of instruction is adapted to the topic, and all practical exercises, if required, are performed under stringent safety measures.
