Level 1 IVR

This first aid course is designed for emergency response officers and people with specific functions (e.g. firefighters, rescue services)

The course provides people tasked with carrying out first aid with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain a person's health, save and rescue lives, and prevent complications in the event of accident-related physical injuries or acute illnesses. The course includes a full refresher of the BLS-AED-SRC course and training on emergency aid in different situations, including a BLS-AED provider. The course is SRC-certified.

Course content IVR Level 1

First part:

  • Course introduction
  • Health and rescue services in Switzerland and Valais
  • Safety, protection and hygiene
  • Obtaining an overview
  • How to alert
  • BLS-AED-SRC provider course, including measures for unconscious patients
  • BLS-AED practical skills training in accordance with SRC guidelines
  • Scenario simulations: Heart attacks, strokes, safety at the scene, organizing the workplace, protecting the patient, communicating with bystanders and the rescue team

Second part:

  • Motivating others to assist
  • Stress management
  • Rights and responsibilities
  • Patient assessment and further measures
  • Measures while the patient is awake, body checks
  • Accident victims
  • Practical skills training with simulations: Dealing/communicating with accident victims, removing helmets, bleeding, spinal trauma, first aid and protective measures in traffic accidents, workplace safety, protecting the patient, securing the accident site

Morning session: 08:00-12:00
Afternoon session: 13:00-17:00
(with a short break per block)

Participants ages 12 and above
