Practicing Emergency Medical Service in the mountains can be extremely challenging. High altitude, extreme temperatures, strong winds, unpredictable weather, weight issues, limited resources and no place for mistakes.
With more than 50 years’ experience and over 50 000 helicopter rescues, we are offering to transfer our knowledge and experience with courses on a high level that prepares you for demanding rescues under extreme conditions.
Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS) Crew Member Course including Flight Crew Emergency Survival Training HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training).
The course is suitable for medical providers and/or rescuers who want to become crew members (medical/technical) on a HEMS/SAR helicopter.
Our HEMS crew member course fulfils the requirements of EASA and is fully certified. The course is also compatible with the future developments of EASA and the specifications of ACRM (Aeromedical Crew Resource Management) of EHAC (European HEMS and Air Rescue Committee).
In Addition, we have fully integrated Flight Crew Emergency and Survival Training into the course and offer a unique and realistic training setting in mountain environment. You will get a profound view into mountain air rescue with exciting experiences.
After completing this course, you can claim a full instruction as a HCM (HEMS crew member) and you get a certificate for the HUET course.

- You must be able to master the following knots prior the course: Italian hitch, figure of 8, clove hitch, overhand slip knot, fisherman knot, prusik
You will receive a pretest approximately 4 weeks before course starts by e-mail. You can either send it back electronically or turn it in on the first day before the course starts.
The program will change according to weather and snow-conditions. We kindly request that we stay flexible and adapt according to those factors. Course includes Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) and Helicopter Emergency Medical Services (HEMS).

How to get to Zermatt
We advise to fly either to ZRH or GVA and taking the train to Zermatt. From ZRH it is a very convenient train ride to Zermatt, changing the train only once.
