It’s dark in the Upper Valais. The sky is cloudless, with a touch of winter chill in the air. All is still. Until, that is, a helicopter turbine starts to whistle. The crew is ready for this year’s night flight training.

Special guests Amit Thakur and Nishant Thakur are back in Zermatt for the summer. The two 32-year-old task specialists from Manali in northern India are visiting Air Zermatt for the fourth time. They’ve come with the goal of learning as much as they can from the experience, professionalism and processes at Air Zermatt, and taking these insights back with them to their home country.

A nighttime call from the mountains: rescue missions with Air Zermatt
The sun has long since disappeared behind the mountains. The last lights flicker in the villages down in the valley – but further up, it’s pitch black. In the midst of this peaceful night, the rescue crew’s phone suddenly rings in the hangar. An emergency call. And just a few minutes later, the Air Zermatt crew heads off into the night.
