Improved Helicopter Dispatch – Greater Benefits for Patients

Professional help as quickly as possible: That’s what each of us hopes for when we’ve suffered a serious accident or a medical emergency such as a heart attack. It doesn’t matter which organization the rescue helicopter that arrives belongs to.

It is precisely this approach—which, unfortunately, has not yet been adopted in every canton—that the Interverband für Rettungswesen (Interassociation for Rescue Services) recommends to all Swiss emergency medical dispatch centers in a new set of guidelines that took effect on November 1, 2026.

AAA Alpine Air Ambulance AG, Air Zermatt AG, and Air-Glaciers SA are taking it one step further: The three air rescue specialists have launched a new, joint website and app where emergency medical dispatch centers can see at any time which helicopters are ready for deployment, along with their equipment and crew qualifications. This is a significant improvement that benefits all patients.
