Air Zermatt rescue crews in continuous operation during the festive season
117 helicopter rescues and 65 ambulance missions: The balance of Air Zermatt's rescue missions over the festive season is impressive. The rescue teams were in continuous operation between December 24, 2021 and January 3, 2022. In order to cope with the high number of rescues, Air Zermatt has up to five rescue machines in operation at the same time.
Helicopter incident with private pilot
During a hard landing on the mountain landing field "Alphubel", a private pilot, who had chartered a helicopter of the type Lama of Air Zermatt AG, severely damaged the machine today.

Helicopter firefighting mission at dusk
East of Rosswlad, a fire had broken out in the early morning hours at about 1800 meters above sea level. The firefighting work was started at dusk with the firefighting helicopter of Air Zermatt.
A weekend on the limit
Last weekend there was beautiful autumn weather in Zermatt, but the cold breeze deceived many a mountaineer. On Sunday, the rescue crews of Air Zermatt were called to three spectacular missions: Twice on the Matterhorn and once on the Weisshorn. The strong winds at higher altitudes were a major challenge for the rescuers.
Extremely challenging night rescue at the Dom
On September 16, 2021, at 6.30 pm, the rescue specialist on duty at the Zermatt rescue station was alerted by the Cantonal Valais Rescue Organization KWRO for a rescue on the Dom. At the beginning, little information was known, two Czech alpinists had triggered the emergency call due to a crevasse fall, no coordinates were available.
