Air Zermatt celebrates its Swiss Helicopter Day
It is impossible to imagine the skies of the Valais without Air Zermatt. Next Saturday, May 13, Air Zermatt will celebrate its 55th anniversary at its base in Raron. The Valais air rescue team has put together a unique program to mark the occasion. The whole population is invited to the Swiss Helicopter Day.

Air Zermatt does numerous rescues over Easter
During the Easter holidays from Good Friday to Easter Monday, Air Zermatt carried out a total of 46 rescue missions by helicopter. Most of the missions were required due to skiing accidents, but there were also crevasse rescues, a crash, evacuations and a major operation after an avalanche on the Alphubel, where the rescuers were called to help. Saturday was particularly intense.
Large-scale operation of Air Zermatt after avalanche collapse
On Saturday morning, a large avalanche occurred in the Alphubel area above Saas-Fee, burying several people. Air Zermatt immediately deployed four helicopters to fly rescue teams and technical equipment to the avalanche cone and search for buried victims.
The new Alpha Zulu magazine is out!
Air Zermatt published the third issue of its popular magazine "Alpha Zulu" in the first week of April. The new issue offers an impressive look behind the scenes of the Valais-based helicopter company that goes far beyond rescue operations in the mountains. Air Zermatt cooperates with Lucerne Cantonal Hospital
Air Zermatt and the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital (LUKS) are entering into a cooperation agreement. Specialists in anaesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine from the LUKS will be on duty as emergency doctors for Air Zermatt from April 2023.
Low snow winter months challenge Air Zermatt
In the first two months of this year, Air Zermatt carried out more rescue missions than ever before in its history. Air Zermatt sees the reason for this in the combination of little snow on and off the ski slopes and the persistently beautiful winter weather.
Daniel Aufdenblatten becomes new CEO of Air Zermatt
Daniel Aufdenblatten from Zermatt will become the new CEO of Air Zermatt on January 1, 2024. The Zermatt native looks back on a long and successful flying career as both a helicopter and airplane pilot. Aufdenblatten will replace CEO Gerold Biner next year.

Night Operations, Winch Rescues, Crevasse Accident
The beautiful winter weather attracted many people to the outdoors last weekend. Accordingly, the helicopters of Air Zermatt were often in action. In total, the rescue crews were called out on 42 missions from Friday to Sunday. On Friday alone, the Air Zermatt helicopters took off for 24 emergencies.
