Major operation after avalanche accident on the Riffelberg
On Monday afternoon, an avalanche broke loose off-piste on the Riffelberg above Zermatt. Several people were swept away by the avalanche. Air Zermatt was deployed with four helicopters at the same time.
Drama at the Tête-Blanche
Last weekend, a search was conducted for six missing persons in the Tête Blanche area. Air Zermatt and rescue specialists from Zermatt used every opportunity under the most difficult conditions to find the missing persons.
Air Zermatt deployed for three avalanches
The fresh snow of the last few days was not without consequences. Within a short space of time on Saturday, Air Zermatt was called out to a total of three avalanche missions. Five helicopters were in action at the same time.
Anniversary of employees
Air Zermatt is celebrating two anniversaries. René Lauber and Philipp Kluser have both been loyal employees of Air Zermatt AG for over 35 years.
Over 40 rescue missions at the weekend
Air Zermatt helicopters were deployed 41 times for rescues at the weekend. Air Zermatt's ambulance service was also called out on a further 17 missions. The majority of these missions involved winter sports accidents.

Our paramedics Sandra Wenger, Cyrill Jost, Benjamin Hischier and Marco Gianiel recently successfully achieved the internationally recognized Certified Flight Paramedic FP-C & Certified Critical Care Paramedic certification.

Air Zermatt rescuers on permanent duty over the holidays
The holidays are some of the busiest days of the year for Air Zermatt. At times, up to four Air Zermatt helicopters were in the air at the same time, whether for rescues, winter sports accidents or medical emergencies. However, it wasn't just the holidays that were intense, but the entire past year, as a look at the 2023 mission figures shows.
Hamilton x Air Zermatt Store in Zermatt
The successful partnership between Hamilton and Air Zermatt has reached a new level with the opening of a joint store in Zermatt. Having already joined forces in a pop-up store on Bahnhofstrasse, the two companies are continuing their successful collaboration with a long-term project. The Hamilton x Air Zermatt store was officially opened in Zermatt on Thursday evening.
More winter sports missions for Air Zermatt
The 2023/2024 winter sports season in Upper Valais has begun, and this is also reflected in the increased number of rescue missions by Air Zermatt. Over the course of the last weekend, Air Zermatt rescue crews were called out on a total of 19 missions, mainly due to accidents on the ski slopes, but not only.
